Privacy

Proletaria does not track candidates, collect applications, or sell visitor data. This page lists what the site does store or send, and to whom.

Local storage (signed out)

Preferences you set here — theme (light/dark), saved Explorer views, tracked companies/ skills/listings, and similar UI state — are saved in your browser’s localStorage whenever you use the site signed out. They stay on your device, are never sent to Proletaria’s servers, and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for proletaria.io.

Account sign-in (Clerk)

Optional account features are handled by Clerk, a third-party authentication provider. If you create an account, Clerk processes the account data you provide (email, sign-in method) under its own privacy policy. Proletaria does not receive your password. Clerk identity is used only to scope your saved searches, watchlist, and settings to your account, and to resolve the email address digests are sent to (see below) — it is not used for job-seeker tracking or shared with any employer.

Saved searches, watchlist, and digest email (signed in)

When you sign in, saved searches and tracked companies/skills/listings you create move from your browser to Proletaria’s servers, scoped to your Clerk account only — nobody else can read, change, or list them. The first time you sign in with local data already saved, you’re offered a one-time import into your account; declining leaves that local data exactly as it was, and it is never imported later without asking again.

If your digest cadence (daily, weekly, or off — set on the account page) is not off, and a transactional email provider is configured, Proletaria sends an email summarizing new matches for your saved searches and changes to your watchlist — via Resend or Postmark, whichever is configured — to your verified primary Clerk email address. If no provider is configured, digest email is not sent even when your cadence is on. Turning cadence to off stops that email; it does not delete your saved searches, watchlist, or feed links, which remain available. Deleting a saved search also revokes its feed links immediately.

Each saved search can also issue an RSS/JSON feed link so you (or a feed reader) can poll it without signing in. Treat a feed link like a password — it is a bearer secret: anyone who has the URL can read that search’s results until you revoke or regenerate it. Proletaria shows you the link once, when you generate it, and stores only a non-reversible hash of it afterward — not the link itself.

There is currently no self-service account-deletion flow. From the account page you can delete any saved search (which also revokes its feed links), untrack any watchlist item, and set digest cadence to off.

Cloudflare analytics

Aggregate, privacy-respecting page-view analytics are collected via Cloudflare, which does not use cookies or fingerprinting for this purpose. It reports traffic counts and trends, not individual visitor profiles.

What Proletaria doesn’t collect

  • No resumes, applications, or candidate data — postings link out to the employer.
  • No passwords — Clerk handles sign-in and never shares yours with Proletaria.
  • No third-party ad trackers or ad-tech pixels.
  • No sale of visitor data to any third party.
